UMOBILE consortium participated at ACM ICN held in Berlin in September 26-28.
It was a single track conference focusing on current ICN research topics, featuring paper presentations and demonstrations. Paulo Mendes (Copelabs), Angela D'Angelo (AFA Systems), Igor Santos (Senception) and Alexandros Sarros (Athena Research and Innovation Center) told the innovation aspects of UMOBILE research concerning ICN:
The Named Data Networking (NDN) project (https://named-data.net/project/) aims to develop a new Internet architecture that can capitalize on strengths — and address weaknesses — of the Internet’s current host-based, point-to-point communication architecture in order to naturally accommodate emerging patterns of communication. The NDN research testbed is a shared resource created for research purposes, that include software routers at several participating institutions, application host nodes, and other devices.
UMOBILE Lab, located at AFA Systems (www.afasystems.it), is part of the Named Data Networking (NDN) project.
In the context of NDN, we aim to run several experiment connecting two local wireless networks (at AFA and at COPELABS), being the NDN traffic sent over the NDN testbed. The experiments aim to test an extension of NDN for wireless networks and a set of novel applications, such as Oi! for short messaging and Now@ for data exchange. Both apps are being developed by COPELABS on top of NDN.
We are ready for experimentations over the NDN Testbed!
